FRANKFORT — A Burr Ridge man has been charged with impersonating a public officer and unlawful possession of weapons after a traffic stop in Frankfort last month, the Frankfort Police Department said in a release issued Oct. 22, 2026.

Police said officers stopped Edward R. Kajmowicz, 46, for a traffic offense on Oct. 19 near the intersection of LaGrange Road and Lincoln-Way Lane. During the encounter, Kajmowicz identified himself as an agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and presented credentials that were later confirmed to be fraudulent, according to the department.

Kajmowicz was in possession of a semi-automatic firearm when he was arrested, police said. His Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification Card had previously been revoked, according to the release.

Further investigation, conducted with DEA officials, determined that Kajmowicz is not currently employed by the agency and was not previously employed there, police said. He was subsequently charged with impersonating a public officer and unlawful possession of weapons.

The charges are allegations, and the department stated that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Kajmowicz is due in Will County Circuit Court on Nov. 9, 2026.
