Socialism is on the ballot this year, Tea Party group warns in ad campaign
The nation’s biggest Tea Party group launched a digital ad campaign to warn American voters that socialism is on the ballot this November advising citizens to say no to what it describes as big government socialism.
Tea Party Patriots Citizen Fund chairman Jenny Beth Martin told The Center Square exclusively that her organization’s ads “[make] it clear this election is about freedom vs. socialism.”
“The Democrat Party has been taken over by its socialist base,” Martin said.
“Democrats are campaigning on an unapologetic socialist platform,” Martin said. “Voters need to wake up to this danger.”
Tea Party Patriots Citizen Fund (TPPCF) launched four ads for six battleground states in support of eight conservative candidates, urging voters to “say no to Big Government Socialism.”
The candidates these ads support are Rep. Scott Perry for Pennsylvania, Senate candidate Mike Collins for Georgia, Senate candidate Mike Rogers for Michigan, Representative Bryan Steil for Wisconsin, Representative Derek Van Orden for Wisconsin, governor candidate Tom Tiffany for Wisconsin, Rep. Eli Crane for Arizona, and House candidate Dave Flippo for Nevada.
The Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Socialists of America have not responded to The Center Square’s request for comment.
Jenny Beth Martin told The Center Square: “If Democrats take over Congress, expect them to use their leverage to try to raise taxes, increase spending, open our borders, free criminals, and enact ‘Woke 2.0.’”
Martin said that a Democrat-controlled Congress would mean “they will be hostage to their far-left socialist base and seek to implement all the radical policies you can find on the [Democratic Socialists of America] website,” Martin said.
“The days when ‘moderate Democrats’ could tame their base are over,” Martin said.
Martin said her organization “is doing everything we can to avoid this scenario by mobilizing conservatives and everyday Americans to the reality of socialist ideology and the disastrous consequences should it prevail.”
Tea Party Patriots’ nonprofit arm – Tea Party Patriots Action – warned in another digital ad that “this November socialism is on the ballot.”
America has the choice of “common sense or big government socialism,” this election, the ad stated. “The choice is clear: vote for common sense.”
On its website, Tea Party Patriots Action (TPPA) evoked images of “bread lines in the USSR,” “a wall in Berlin,” and “a lone man standing in front of a Chinese tank,” while stating that “history has shown what socialism does.”
Even so, 46% of Americans ages 18 to 34 today “view socialism favorably,” TPPA said.
Additionally, “35 self-described socialists have already won Democratic primaries in 2026,” TPPA said.
Examples of the “common sense” citizens should vote for according to TPPA’s website are tax cuts, girls-only sports, a secure border, supporting law enforcement, and requiring an ID to vote.
Examples of the “crazy” citizens could vote for are higher taxes, males in female sports, no ID required to vote, and the abolishment of ICE, police and prisons.
As The Center Square previously reported, few states are untouched by socialist candidates or ballot initiatives, as Democratic Socialists of America endorsements reach the state level.
