MANHATTAN — Firefighters contained a kitchen fire at Rosati’s, 530 W. North St., on the evening of Aug. 16 without injuries, the Manhattan Fire Protection District said.

The district said it responded at approximately 7 p.m. to a reported structure fire at the address after a report of smoke in the kitchen. Firefighters located a small fire in the kitchen on arrival and brought it under control within about 10 minutes, according to the district. The fire did not extend to neighboring businesses in the strip mall, the district said.

All occupants were evacuated safely, and no firefighters or civilians were injured, according to the district.

Mutual aid was provided by the Frankfort, Elwood, New Lenox and Wilmington fire protection districts, the district said. The Beecher, Monee, University Park and Mokena fire protection districts provided change-of-quarters and station coverage.

Rosati’s will remain closed until further notice, the district said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Manhattan Fire Protection District investigators. The district did not state a cause or a damage estimate.
